The Zetter Collection is making its first move outside the UK with the launch of a new five-star boutique hotel located in Amsterdam’s historic Canal District. The Zetter 717 Amsterdam is set to debut in early 2027, housed within a historic canal house situated along Prinsengracht, one of the Dutch capital’s most iconic waterways and part of Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal ring.
The venue will offer only 24 guest rooms, establishing it as a boutique luxury stay rather than a sprawling international-brand property. This initiative represents The Zetter’s initial expansion beyond its current London-based portfolio, bringing its distinctive hospitality approach to a new market.
Built mainly in 1810 using the Empire style, the structure also includes a rear section dating to Amsterdam’s 17th-century Golden Age. Positioned along Prinsengracht, visitors will find themselves in the Canal District, just steps from well-known neighborhoods such as the Nine Streets, Jordaan, and other key historic sites.
James Thurstan Waterworth, the designer behind Thurstan, the firm responsible for The Zetter Bloomsbury, is leading the interior transformation. The design vision merges original architectural features with materials like aged brass, reclaimed timber, antique mirrors, and layered textiles, aiming to mirror the cozy, home-like aesthetic found across The Zetter’s London properties.

Two signature spaces will define the guest experience. The Garden Room offers morning meals inside a glass-enclosed conservatory facing a private courtyard, while The Library provides a quiet lounge for light fare and beverages, showcasing book-lined walls, reclaimed oak, and warm terracotta tones.
Yara Al Hattouni has been named general manager of the new property. Her deep familiarity with Amsterdam is expected to guide how the hotel connects with local culture, ensuring it resonates with its surroundings instead of copying the formula used in The Zetter’s UK locations.
Launching in Amsterdam marks a major milestone for The Zetter, which has built its reputation on boutique accommodations in London. With this move into one of Europe’s top short-break destinations, the brand gains global visibility while staying true to its core philosophy of intimate, culturally rich lodging experiences.
